The Chevrolet Motor Company was formed in 1911. 
The 1959 Chevrolet got a new chassis and new styling, it was even lower and wider than 1958, a GM economy move was bodyshells were shared with Buick, Oldsmobile and Pontiac. Things were toned down a bit for the 1960 facelift, a plainer grille and the cats eyes tail lights replaced with the usual round lights. Models for 1960;
The base model Biscayne, in 2 or 4 door Sedans and Brookwood Wagon.
Mid spec, Bel Air (twin round tail lights, rear quarter trim has paint infill); 2 or 4 door Sedans, 2 or 4 door Hardtops and 4 door Parkwood Wagon.
Top model; Impala (triple round tail lights, more elaborate rear quarter trim); 2 door Hardtop Sport Coupe, Convertible, 4 door Sedan, Hardtop Sport Sedan and Nomad Wagon.
Also available in Bel Air trim was the El Camino Coupe Utility.
Chevrolets were also produced in Australia by General Motors Holden from 1926-68,  In 1960, only the 4 door Sedan was sold there, along side the 4 door Pontiac Laurentian Sedan, both got the 283 cu in V8.
Engines; 145hp 235 cu in 6 cyl, 185, 230 or 250hp 283 cu in V8 (250hp was fuel injected) and 280, 300 or 315hp 348 cu in V8
