The Chevrolet Motor Company was formed in 1911. 
The Corvette, Americas first sports car, was introduced in 1953, the first generation C1 Corvette, often referred to as the solid-axle models, built from 1953-62, featured a fibreglass body and were available as a roadster only.
1953-55; laid back headlight openings, jet pod tail lights.  
1956-57; round headlights, tapered rear fenders and coved sides.
The '58 Corvette received a styling update, it was also slightly longer, and wider. Single headlights were replaced with dual, bumpers were larger front and rear, different tail lights and side coves revised. The interior was also updated with a different dash with all the instruments in front of the driver, and a new central console where the clock resided. The 1958-69 Corvettes were very similar, exclusive to the 1958 model were hood louvers and the trunk had chrome strips running down its length, these items disappearing in 59, the 1960 model identical to the 59.
1960 engines; 245 or 270hp 283 cu in V8, fuel injected option (250 or 290hp)
Chevrolet were also selling full size cars; the base Biscayne, mid spec Bel Air and top of the line Impala in 1960 and new for 60 the rear engine compact Corvair
