Delivered in December of 1965 to Belgian market dealer, Garage Francorchamps. The first owner is recorded simply as, โDesyโ, then in 1967 the car was purchased by American Ferrari importer โCocoโ Chinetti. Chinetti and commissioned famous commercial designer Bob Peak to design a one-off Shooting Brake concept, and with designs prepared, they chose Vignale to undertake the transformation of the 330 GT. Alfredo Vignale was to create the second Ferrari ever to wear Shooting Brake coachwork and the project became the Patronโs last project before his untimely death in 1969. Vignale launched the uniquely styled 330 at the 1968 Turin Motor Show, where the car was an astounding spectacle, revered for its distinctive lines and outlandish coachwork. Thereafter, the Shooting Brake was returned to Connecticut, where Chinetti enjoyed many years of motoring and where it was a regular on the Greenwich and Palm Beach society scene. The car appeared in Philadelphia in 1977, then to Paris in 1979 to Mr. Jean Claude โPatchโ Paturau, and most recently on to the U.K. under celebrity ownership, where it was restored and repainted to its current livery. The 330GT is eligible for numerous specialty events, concours and otherwise around the world. It has been shown in the past at many and will once again be a welcomed addition in the future due to its rarity and coachbuilt style. There is a large amount of supporting documentation that accompanies the car, including a large binder with detailed maintenance history, factory tool roll and jack. This is a one-off, numbers matching Ferrari with incredible ownership history and well documented provenance. It represents among the rarest of opportunities and is arguably one of the best European-American design collaborations in Ferrariโs long and illustrious history. |
