Fords Pony car, the Mustang was first introduced in April, 1964.
By 1967 Fords pony car gained some serious competition from the other manufacturers, so the new look was more muscular, the engine bay was larger to fit a big block engine.
Shelby American built performance versions of the Mustang.
For 1967, not only the 306hp 289 GT350 was available but new for 67, was the 355hp 428 GT500 
Shelby replaced steel panels with enhanced fiberglass panels. Like earlier Shelby Mustangs, the fibreglass hood got a scoop, but for 67, the Shelbys also got a fibreglass trunk with a built-in spoiler and fibreglass side air intakes.   
The 67 Shelby also got driving lights mounted in the center of the grille (some were moved to the sides to meet state laws) and sequential turn-signal lamps borrowed from the Mercury Cougar. The GT-500 came with an interior rollbar.
In 1967, the GT350 was still available with the 306 bhp K Code 289 V8 with high riser manifold, but also available was the GT500 with 355hp 428 Police Interceptor engine with twin 600-cfm Holley 4 bbl carbys
