Aegean Blue. GM created Pontiac in 1926, sold beside the more expensive Oakland. The Oakland was dropped in 1933, the Pontiac continued to be sold until 2010. The Firebird pony car and its platform sharing cousin, the Camaro were introduced in 1967 to compete with Fords Mustang. These 1967-69 first generation Firebirds had a characteristic Coke bottle styling. Unlike its cousin, the Camaro, its bumpers were integrated into the front end surrounding the grille and its rear slit taillights were inspired by the Pontiac GTO. 1968 saw only minor restyling, turn signals now wrapped around the front edges of the car, and at the rear, the Pontiac Arrowhead logo was added to each side, front door vent-windows were replaced with a single pane of glass and Astro Ventilation, a fresh-air-inlet system 1969 saw a major restyle to the front end and the Trans Am performance and appearance package introduced. In 1968 a 2 door Hardtop or Convertible were available Engines; 175 or 215hp 250 cu in 6 cyl, 265 or 320hp 350 V8 and 330hp 400 V8, 335hp Ram Air (hood scoops, higher flow heads and a different camshaft) 340hp Ram Air II
