The Ford Torino was built from 1968-76.
For 1972, the Torino was redesigned, the styling emphasized the long hood short deck look, as well as coke bottle styling more than ever before.
In 1973 the Torino's front end featured totally new sheetmetal from the firewall forward, with a blunt, more squared-off fascia replacing the previous year's pointed prow.
In 1974 the Gran Torino Sport no longer was available with the 'Sportsroof' fastback roofline.
For 1976, only three bodies were available, 2 and 4 door Sedans and the Wagon, base model was the Torino, then Gran Torino and top was the Gran Torino Brougham (standard with vinyl roof and opera windows, and option on other models)
For the 1975-79 TV series Starsky and Hutch, they chose 2 Bright Red 2 door Gran Torinos to star as the car that Starsky and Hutch drove. The cars were painted with the distinctive white stripe. Also a Starsky and Hutch movie was made in 2004 featuring a similar car.
Ford built 1,002 replicas of the 'Starsky and Hutch' car in the spring of 1976. This limited production package was essentially a special paint option, but required the deluxe bumper group and dual color-keyed sport mirrors as mandatory options. This car is one of those, believed to be 1 of 100 left in existence
1976 engines; This car has the 152hp 351 Windsor V8
