| Description | The follow up to the Maserati Bora this mid engine supercar from 1978 is a pleasure to drive and to look at. With only 300 RHD models ever made this is a very rare car and an SS at that. At the time of build Maserati was owned by Citroen and the Merak made use of the Citroen SM V6 engine, transmission and power operated brakes. Widely recognised as one of the finest contemporary V6 engines the 220 BHP is delivered smoothly and urgently while the suspension and mid-engine lay out mean the cornering capability is hugely impressive even today and the ride quality is also surprisingly good. The Merak also offer ‘+2’ seating in the rear which adds to its versatility. With only 626 Merak SS models made this is a sound investment but a usable one too. The car has paperwork back to 1978 among its 5 owners and has a 12 month MOT after recent refurbishment work. In 2011 it had over £14,000 spent on it with world renowned Bill McGrath Ltd Why the Merak SS? Truly usable classic supercar. |
