Aston Martin was founded in 1913 by Lionel Martin and Robert Bamford. They went Bankrupt in 1924. After a few owners in the 20s and 30s, David Brown bought the company in 1947. Aston Martin began to build the classic 'DB' series of cars.
The 1989-2000 Aston Martin Virage replaced the Aston Martin V8, still the same engine but a completely new look sleeker body made of aluminium. This V8 model was intended as the company's flagship model, with the 6-cylinder DB7, introduced in 1994, positioned below it as an entry-level model. Although the DB7 became available with a V12 engine and claimed a performance advantage, the Virage remained the exclusive, expensive and hand-built flagship of the Aston Martin range.
The Convertible Virage Volante introduced in 1990.
The high performance Vantage version was introduced in 1993, with very different styling, only the roof and doors shared with the Virage. The Vantage was wider, lower and had four round tail lights. It got 550hp from twin superchargers.
Engine; 330hp 5300cc V8
