The Chevrolet Motor Company was formed in 1911. 
The Corvette, Americas first sports car, was introduced in 1953, the sixth generation C6 Corvette was built from 2005 to 2013, now exposed headlamps again and a longer wheelbase although the car was shorter and narrower than the C5. 
2006; high performance Z06; 505hp LS7 427 cu in, all coupes, aluminium chassis, larger rear spoiler and front splitter.
2009; higher performance ZR1; 638hp supercharged LS9 6.2 l, some panels were carbon fibre,  blue badges, valve covers and brake calipers and the hood got a polycarbonate window. Functional fender vents. 
2010; Limited Edition Grand Sport; 430hp LS3 6.2l, upgraded suspension, Z06 rear spoiler, wider front and rear fenders.
The C6-R race car was available in two versions;
470hp GT2, iron brakes and relatively stock aerodynamics
590hp GT1, carbon ceramic brakes and aggressive aerodynamics
