With a brand new 4.0L Flat 6 (not the same one as the GT3) and a 6 speed manual transmission, the 718 Spyder is all about pure driving enjoyment. Over 400hp, no turbos, redline of 8000RPM and some parts borrowed from upper tier cars like the GT3 RS, the Spyder is a mid-engined masterpiece. Now mechanically identical to the Cayman GT4, taking the roof off changes the experience for the better. While the GT4 is always trying to be the fastest track car, but never able to match it's big brother 911 GT3, the Spyder has no such aspirations by the simple fact of it having no roof, which just makes it so much more fun to drive.
