    • Wow, a real rarity in my local town! This just turned around in the junction in front of me, lucky I had my camera around my neck! These are very unusual and cool looking cars, built by American car manufacturer Tesla. These have only been sold in the UK for a very short while, and I don't think many have been sold. Only one of my contacts has spotted a UK one of these before, that's urban-miff who spotted one at a electricity station. I at first thought this was some kind of odd Jaguar XF, but in fact it's way more interesting! This can do 0-60mph in 5.4 seconds, so sure does shift. This is a very early RHD model, only released in June. This one was first registered on the 27th June, so was only 10 days old when I photographed it. Look at what Cartell says when I search the plate! Many former Viva owners moved along to the Chevette saloon once that car finished production in NZ in 1977, so quite a few of them were sold here, but on a whole Chevettes of all bodystyles are a rare sight on Kiwi roads today.

    • You might call this a formal portrait of my tkird Volkswagen, a 1973 model. It had a larger motor and some other improvements. It also had a steel sunroof, which needed too many repairs. The photo was taken at Jubilee College State Park, near Kickapoo, a few miles west of our home in Peoria, Illinois. I kept the llinois license plate, RW 4336, from my second year in Peoria until we moved to Annandale, Virginia. It has my initials and birth date. In Illinois, you could request any license plate with two letters and four numbers, if it was not already taken.
