2001 - 2006 | 3rd generation

Fusion Orange. 
Built from August 2004-August 2006. 
In 2002, not only was the Monaro name reintroduced, but a 2 door coupe as well. Based on the VT/VX Commodore, but with 84 new body panels. The windscreen was raked back by two degrees and roofline lowered by 40mm. The whole B-pillar section was moved rearwards to match new doors that were extended by 150mm. Rear overhang was cut by 100mm and an integrated spoiler in the bootlid.
The V2 Monaro got a facelift in 2004, the VZ. The VZ Monaro got revised bumpers and new ducted bonnet, 260kw V8 and 6 speed manual, it was exported all over the world; Chevrolet Lumina Coupe in South Africa and the Middle East, Pontiac GTO in the US and the most powerful version; the 373kw supercharged VXR500 in the UK. 
In 2005, the limited edition (1200 made) CV8-Z was available, to again farewell the Monaro, this car, it got special wheels and a sunroof. 
HSV did an improved 255kw GTO, 300kw GTS and all wheel drive 'Coupe4' version. A 417kw 427 version was designed but due to costs, only 2 prototypes were built.
