1967 - 1971 | 1st generation

Trevor Wilkinson started up an engineering business in 1946 called Trevcar Motors, Jack Pickard joined the company the following year and they formed TVR Engineering. They built their first car in 1949 and by the mid 50s were building quite a few lightweight sports cars with powerful engines in their Blackpool factory in England.
This body shape originated in 1958 with the 4 cyl Grantura, in 1964, a V8 version was built in the States, the Griffith 200 and 400.
Back in England, the Tuscan was built from 1967-71 with either a 2994cc Essex V6 or a 289 Windsor V8
The V8 model was available first, with 271hp was capable of 155mph. Most were exported to the US.
24 short wheel base versions were built, similar to the Griffith
24 long wheel base models were built, chassis from the Vixen S2
and in 1970 10 wide body versions were built (with 302 V8)
The V6 version was introduced in 1969, with 138hp was capable of 125mph, 101 of these were built for the local market only
