    • Using hyperbole to describe the 1964 Ferrari 250 GTO is unnecessary. The car speaks for itself. It is one of the last (of thirty-six) Ferrari GTOs ever built. This particular one, chassis #5571, was the first of the Series II bodies. The 3.0L V-12 produces about 300 horsepower and it completed multiple endurance races, winning its class in the Daytona Continental 2000km (this car's first race), Sebring 12 hour, and Nassau TT. The driver is Mr. Derek Hill, who won the Ferrari Challenge International Championship in 1995 and the Formula Dodge West Coast in 1996, and raced a Bugatti EB110 at Le Mans. Additionally, he has a special attachment to this car as it was his dad, Fomula One Champ Phil Hill, that raced it in Daytona and Nassau. But what is the car really like? Well, "It's so hard to describe just how incredible it is to drive this car at speed. I mean, it's really a certain kind of ecstasy." This car has intrigued me ever since it launched in LA at the end of last year so I'm excited to see how it performs on ice and on the road. The Porsche 911 Dakar is limited to 2,500 examples, shows that there are hardly any limits to the concept of the Porsche 911. The 911 Dakar pays homage the first overall victory by Porsche in the Paris-Dakar Rally of 1984, an event that also marked the birth of all-wheel drive in the Porsche 911. One thing that immediately stands out is the ground clearance of the 911 Dakar: It is 50 millimetres higher than that of a 911 Carrera equipped with sports suspension. In addition, the standard lift system can raise the ride height by a further 30 mm. Its ground clearance and ramp angle rival those of conventional SUVs. The lift system is not designed merely for driving over obstacles at low speeds, but rather it is an integral part of the re-tuned suspension. The ‘high level’ setting is available for off-road adventures at speeds of up to 170 km/h. Above that speed, the car automatically lowers back down to its normal level. Additional characteristic features of the 911 Dakar include the newly developed, fixed lightweight rear spoiler made of CFRP, and the CFRP front luggage compartment lid with striking-looking air vents taken from the 911 GT3. There are also standard-fit off-road details such as the red aluminium towing eyes at the front and back, the widened wheel wells and sills, and the stainless steel protective elements on the front, rear and side sills. The side air intakes on the redesigned front end are also protected against stone chips by stainless steel grilles. Carbon-fibre reinforced plastic, CFRP full bucket seats, omitting the rear seats, lightweight glass and a lightweight battery reduce its weight further, enabling the Porsche 911 Dakar to weigh in at just 1,605 kg – a mere 10 kg heavier than the 911 Carrera 4 GTS with PDK. The 3.0-litre biturbo six-cylinder engine with 353 kW (480 PS) and a maximum torque of 570 Newton metres delivers superior performance with a compelling boxer sound. It propels the sports car from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds and reaches a top speed of 240 km/h (limited by the all-terrain tyres). Power transmission in the all-wheel drive sports car is provided by an eight-speed PDK. The standard equipment also includes rear-axle steering, the exceptionally performance-oriented engine mounts from the 911 GT3 and the PDCC anti-roll stabilisation. Maximum off-road performance is also ensured by two new driving modes (in addition to Normal, Wet and Sport), which can be selected using the rotary dial on the steering wheel. Rallye mode is ideal for loose surfaces and features rear-biased all-wheel drive. Offroad mode automatically operates at a raised ride height and with a significantly stiffer differential locking effect. The focus is directed at maximum traction in dunes or on hard, uneven ground. Both of the new driving modes also feature the new Rallye Launch Control, which allows wheel slippage of around 20 per cent. At the heart of the optional Rallye Design Package is a two-tone paint finish in White/Gentian Blue Metallic. Porsche is offering two-tone paintwork as standard for the first time. The red and gold stripes are applied by hand in Zuffenhausen in the Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur. On the side of the car, the customer can choose an individual race number between 0 and 999. In addition to the red and gold rally stripes, the 911 Dakar with Rallye Design Package – the appearance of which is based on the winning vehicle of the 1984 Paris-Dakar Rally – also bears the ‘Roughroads’ lettering on the doors. The term is a registered trademark and reflects the concept of the 911 Dakar and its suitability for driving off road. The white-painted rims and the red taillight strip, in contrast to the standard 911, round off the distinctive appearance. Further highlights can be found in the interior: the interior trims and the decorative inlays on the dashboard and the interior door handle are in Ceramica White. There is also extended Race-Tex and leather surrounds as well as seat belts and accents in Shark Blue.     • Two Season ago we had one of the most beautiful, rarest and better sounding GT1 machines trying Hillclimb Racing: the Maserati MC12 GT1 of Vitaphone Racing driven by Michael Bartels. The 6.0L V12 Naturally Aspirated Monster (sharing the engine with the Ferrari Enzo) displayed its capabilites on the German Hillclimb and almost broke its all time Touring Car Record but ended up having a minor crash as seen on the video. With over 650Hp and weighing only 1200Kg, the Rear Wheel drive, Mid-engined Italian Monster here is a tremendously successful Race Car having won 5 straight GT1 Teams' Championship between 2005 and 2009. Still an incredibly quick machine, this is probably one of the very last opportunities the public had to see this machine being driven in anger.

    • TVR ARE BACK! This is the new TVR Griffith, revealed for the first time at the Goodwood Revival and I'm pleased to say that I have an order for an early car as a future Shmeemobile! What do you think? The British marque came under new ownership 4 years ago and is back now with the resurrection of the Griffith name; a car focused on driver engagement with a naturally aspirated V8, manual gearbox, rear wheel drive and a host of trick technologies. Developed in partnership with Gordan Murray Design and Cosworth; it's powered by a 5.0l V8 with 500PS and weights just 1250kg with the iStream chassis. Top speed is in excess of 200mph and the sprint to 60mph comes in sub-4; it's fast! The design is iconic TVR with side-exit exhausts, touches that come from their history but a modernised and completed look. The man in charge, Les Edgar, assures also that this is a new company and therefore reliability will be in a new league. I have a deposit placed via the lovely folks at Top Cats Racing, due for an early car in early 2019 (or late 2018 if I'm lucky) and honestly, I cannot wait! This is designed as a purist driving machine, it's an iconic British manufacturer, and I'm very excited for their journey.   • I Found a Hidden New York City Car Collection!
    • Tucked away in the streets of New York City lies this hidden jem of a car collection! Totally unobvious from the outside but housing a raw garage feel with 15 or or so cars including the likes of a Ferrari F12 TDF, Porsche GT2 RS and more great supercars. If you know NYC, to have any kind of self parking space is something, to create this environment is just amazing! Based around a love for Ferrari and Porsche cars, those cover the majority of the very bright and colourful collection - right up my street. The Ferrari corner includes the Gialo Triplo Strato F12tdf, a car that I couldn't resist starting up to hear the V12 explode into life. Either side of it is a 458 Speciale and an incredibly rare 599 GTB Alonso Edition of which only 40 were made and this being the only one with a leather interior. Sitting up top is the 360 Modena, the first car of the collection. On the other side lie the Porsches, flagshipped by the GT2 RS in PTS Golf Blue (not Gulf Blue) and two 911 Rs, one in immaculate factory spec and the other with AC and used regularly. In addition is a 997 GT3 RS, 991 GT3 RS, new Fashion Grey manual GT3 and more. To add to the collection we also have the BMW M4 GTS and Mercedes CLK Black Series. It's a huge thanks to the owner for the hospitality to visit and see the collection, and to bring my Ford GT in to join the line up!
