  • Essai Mazda 2 1.5 l SkyActiv-G 90 2020
    • Cette 3ème génération de Mazda 2 a été lancée en 2015, donc il est temps pour elle de s’octroyer une petite cure de jouvence qui concerne essentiellement les optiques avant et arrière, une nouvelle calandre, un peu plus tendance, un peu plus dynamique. A l’intérieur, il y a une légère montée en gamme avec des matériaux un peu plus cossus, à l’image de ce bandeau de cuir qui traverse toute la planche de bord. Mais l’essentiel n’est pas là pour cette citadine puisqu’elle embarque des équipements supplémentaires pour être un peu plus compétitif sur son segment. On trouve ainsi le freinage d’urgence automatique avec détection piéton, des feux avant adaptatifs plus performants, l’écran central couplé au Mirrorscreen. On a aussi le volant chauffant. Tous ces petits équipements font que cette Mazda est un peu plus agréable à vivre au quotidien. Côté motorisation, ça bouge un peu : Mazda réduit la gamme à un seul moteur, le 1,5 l 4 cylindres de 90 ch qui est doté d’une micro hybridation avec alterno-démarreur. Ce moteur se veut un peu plus souple que par le passé. Forcément, il est censé consommer moins, ce qu’on ne manquera pas de vérifier à Montlhéry. Ce moteur répond également aux nouvelles normes : le grammage de CO2 descend de 111 à 94 g/km. Pas mal ! A l’usage, ce moteur est très agréable. La Mazda 2 est très à l’aise sur les grands axes : on peut allègrement faire un Paris Marseille avec sans souci. Il faut certes le cravacher un peu lors des relances et ne pas hésiter à rétrograder, mais il fait le job ! Par ailleurs, Mazda a retravaillé le confort de sa voiture à travers le châssis, les sièges et l’insonorisation. L’ensemble rend cette Mazda un peu plus confortable, un peu plus sympa à vivre au quotidien. Pour les tarifs, ils débutent à 17650 € pour l’entrée de gamme. La version haute atteint 21850 € et si vous voulez la boîte automatique, il faudra rajouter 2000 € supplémentaires, sans compter le fait que cette boîte est uniquement disponible sur les finitions hautes.

  • New VW Golf R review: The ultimate car?

VW’s famous pocket rocket has been updated in 2024, but are the changes enough to sway you away from competitors such as the S3, AMG A35 or M135? Well, let’s take a closer look. Starting with the design, it’s still clearly a Golf, but there are a few notable changes compared to the previous edition. You now have an illuminated VW badge sitting within the light bar stretching across the front. The lower bumper has also been redesigned and houses some real vents on either side. Along the side there are satin door mirrors and side skirts, while at the back there’s a redesigned bumper, updated taillights, and of course, quad tailpipes. On the inside, not much has been updated - but that’s not necessarily a bad thing! There’s blue stitching throughout, R-specific digital dials, and soft-touch materials throughout. The main change, though, is the large infotainment screen on the centre of the dash. It’s bright and looks smart, although it can be a bit laggy at times. In the back, there aren’t any changes of note - it’s pretty much the same as the previous edition. Under the bonnet, you have the same 2-litre 4-cylinder turbo as before. However, the power output has now been increased from 320hp to 333hp! It still comes with four-wheel drive and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. It’ll propel you to 60mph in just 4.6 seconds. The new Golf R costs from £44,500. So is it still the best hot hatch on the market for under £45,000? Stick with Mat to see for yourself! Now it’s fair to say that the new M5 has had a fair bit of criticism thrown its way since it was unveiled back in June, but is it all justified? Mat’s about to take a closer look and find out. Starting with the design, there’s no denying that it has a pretty aggressive look to it. There’s a huge front bumper that comes with massive air intakes, while there’s also a large blacked-out M grille which can even illuminate at night! Along the side, there are side skirts and M side mirrors, while at the back there’s a crazy diffuser-styled bumper, coupled with quad tailpipes! It’s even possible to add a carbon fibre roof as well. Step inside and you’ll find a traditional M interior, with a large swooping digital dial and infotainment screen. There are loads of M touches as well, including the M steering wheel, M sports seats, and even M pedals! There’s lots of soft-touch material throughout, and a lot of M functionality hidden in the infotainment system. Under the bonnet, the new M5 is still powered by a 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8. However, it’s now also a hybrid, so when the engine and electric motor combine it produces 727hp and 1,000Nm of torque! But of course, the hybrid system massively adds to the weight, with the M5 clocking in at 2,435kg! All in, the new M5 costs from around £111,000. So is it worth it?! You’ll need to stick with Mat to see for yourself!     • Check out good old NFS Porsche Unleashed (or Porsche 2000) in 4K resolution! This epic NFS game still looks quite cool after so many years! The cars control very nice since it's a mix of sim-cade. Cool graphics effects such as the tailights reflection on the wet road are present! And the car models are well made considering it's a game released in 2000! This was and still is a magnificent NFS title! The game had much attention from the developers. Beautiful tracks, cool looking cars, interior camera with decent interior design for all Porsche cars. Even the sound is fantastic! everything sounds as it should sound. Then you can hear the gear shift, every small rubble when you pass over it, different engine sound for every camera mode! Gotta love those interior sounds! calm and nice hearing the engine roar from the luxurious inside of a Porsche. The sound design is truly great. Way ahead of it's time IMO. A great NFS title! Taking a first look in Bugatti's secret workshop, alongside the legendary Type 35, sits the brand new Bolide - the name meaning a rocket of a racecar. The car is inspired by Bugatti's racing history and has been engineered for the ultimate in performance for a track only car, to the level of Formula 1 or LMP1. The engine is the next generation of the 8.0l quad turbo W16 with 1,850hp, 1,850Nm and thanks to the exceptionally light weight that claims to be a mere 1,240kg, it's therefore capable of boasting the most insane acceleration figures. 0-100km/h in 2.2s, 0-200km/h in 4.4s, 0-300km/h in 7.4s, 0-400km/h in 12.1s and 0-500km/h in only 20.1s... that takes some time to actually interpret. Visually it's exceptionally dramatic with negative space in the bodywork, shrink wrapped to the engine and tub, with the x-shapes for the layout of the rear, a shark fin and gigantic spoiler. Naturally all components are as light as possible, from exceptionally thin carbon panels to 3d printed titanium used everywhere possible for the ultimate power to weight ratio. The engine itself features a new configuration including the turbos set up for maximum power rather than the traditional stage configuration.     • Check out the new Lamborghini SC20! It's a one-off V12 Barchetta inspired by the Aventador J and Veneno, based on the Avendator SVJ with a 770hp NA V12 and no roof or windsheild. Centro Stile and Squadra Corse have collaborated to create something crazy so let's check it out! Following on from the SC18 Alston two years ago, the motorsports and design divisions within Lamborghini have worked together on this customer commission project of a 2 seat V12 barchetta. The bodyshape is proving a popular format at the moment with the Ferrari Monza, McLaren Elva, Aston Martin V12 Speedster and even my fellow YouTubers, Daily Driven Exotics creating their Aperta based on the Lamborghini Huracan EVO RWD. The 6.5l V12 produces 770hp and 720Nm, with the 7spd ISR automated manual gearbox feeding power to all 4 wheels. One can be sure with that level of power, and reduced weight, it would make for quite the driving experience!
