Instead, a slightly toned down, road legal version was created alongside the racer for homologation purposes. While this popular interpretation of the regulations gave designer Nigel Stroud virtually free reign, it was decided to go for a front-mounted engine. By going down this path, Panoz created the first purpose-built sports racer with this layout since the 1960s. As a result of the unusual engine location, the GTR-1 featured a three-part chassis. The most substantial was the carbon-fibre monocoque cockpit, which was connected to the front crash structure by a steel tubular frame that cradled the engine. The suspension layout followed the design ethos of the day with double-wishbones and push-rods on all four corners. Powering the GT1 racer was a Roush-tuned Ford V8, which was mated to a Panoz-modified XTrac sequential gearbox. Although the engine was mounted in front of the cockpit, it sat completely behind the front axle, so the GTR-1 was effectively still a mid-engined machine.     • En août dernier avec mon fils nous avons eu la chance de conduire la Borgward Arabella de Tim. Cette voiture a fait l'objet d'un article sur le n°196 de janvier 2013 de la revue Gazoline. C'est d'ailleurs grâce à cet article que nous avons pu faire connaissance de Tim et de l'association "Les amis de Lloyd". Depuis, une grande amitié nous lient à travers notre passion ! Im vergangenen August mit meinem Sohn hatten wir die Chance, Tims Borgward Arabella zu fahren. Dieses Auto war Gegenstand eines Artikels am 196. Januar 2013 der Zeitschrift Gazoline. Dank dieses Artikels haben wir Tim und den Verein "Lloyd Freunde" kennengelernt. Seitdem bindet uns eine gute Freundschaft durch unsere Leidenschaft

    • Emanuele Pirro vi porta a bordo della nuova Lamborghini SCV12 sulla pista di Imola. La hypercar da pista progettata da Lamborghini Squadra Corse e disegnata dal Lamborghini Centro Stile, ha completato i test di sviluppo ed è pronta al debutto, programmato nel corso dell’estate 2020. La vettura è equipaggiata con il più potente V12 aspirato mai progettato da Lamborghini, in grado di erogare oltre 830 CV, anche grazie al contributo della sovralimentazione dinamica alle alte velocità. Potenza da gestire con un inedito cambio portante 6 rapporti, derivato dall’unità montata Huracán Super Trofeo Evo, posto sul retrotreno e abbinato alla trazione posteriore. Eccezionale anche il rapporto peso/potenza, grazie all’inedito telaio monoscocca di nuova generazione, realizzato in fibra di carbonio e progettato specificatamente per la vettura. Per offrire la massima agilità e al contempo la massima stabilità nonché un piacere di guida estremo anche sui tracciati più impegnativi, sono state adottate soluzioni cinematiche ispirate dai prototipi da competizione, come le sospensioni posteriori push-rod installate direttamente sul cambio. La potenza è scaricata a terra tramite pneumatici slick Pirelli specifici montati su cerchi in magnesio da 19 pollici all’anteriore e da 20 al posteriore. L’aerodinamica è figlia dell’esperienza Lamborghini Squadra Corse nelle competizioni GT e assicura un livello di efficienza e deportanza superiore a quello di una vettura GT3. Il cofano anteriore presenta la doppia presa d’aria con costola centrale tipica delle Huracán da competizione, per sviluppare flussi aerodinamici favorevoli all’airscoop posto al centro del tetto. Sempre all’anteriore spiccano splitter e le due appendici laterali; sulle fiancate i flussi destinati al raffreddamento di motore e cambio sono stati ottimizzati attraverso l’utilizzo di pinne verticali poste sui brancardi. Completa il pacchetto aerodinamico la grande ala posteriore regolabile e dal doppio profilo. La vettura, non omologabile per utilizzo stradale, verrà interamente prodotta nella Factory di Sant’Agata Bolognese in poche decine di esemplari. I clienti entreranno a far parte di un esclusivo club che darà accesso a programmi di guida dedicati per pilotare la propria SCV12 in tutti i più prestigiosi circuiti del mondo. L’assistenza sarà garantita dallo staff tecnico Squadra Corse con il supporto di Emanuele Pirro, cinque volte vincitore della 24 Ore di Le Mans e tutor d’eccezione per i clienti-piloti.

Elle s'identifie à son kit carrosserie spécifique, comprenant des déflecteurs et un capot largement plus ajouré, ainsi qu'un aileron. La puissance grimpe également à 325 chevaux et même à 345 chevaux si vous avez la possibilité de lui faire boire du SP102. Malgré cela, les performances progressent assez peu et c'est le principal reproche adressé à ce modèle extrême. Masdar City, from where test drives of the Audi e-tron begin, is a greenprint for cities of the future. Based on the three pillars of social, economic and environmental sustainability, the city is pioneering sustainable urban development by incubating real-world solutions in energy, water efficiency, waste management and mobility. Located next to Abu Dhabi International Airport, the low-carbon community is made up of a rapidly growing residential neighbourhood, clean-tech cluster and free zone, home to more than 590 small-to-medium-sized businesses, multinational companies and public sector tenants – it is also hosts the headquarters of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA). The intelligent overall concept of the Audi e-tron primarily comprises sustainable production, a locally CO2-neutral drive system and reliable charging service. “In Masdar City, the future of mobility meets life in the cities of the future – emission-free, ecological and sustainable. This is the perfect starting point for the Audi e-tron driving event,” says Peter Oberndorfer, Head of Product and Technology Communications. On highways and through switchbacks, the journalists drive to Jebel Hafeet, the second highest mountain in the United Arab Emirates. There, the Audi e-tron demonstrates its innovative recuperation system. On average in more than 90 percent of all deceleration, the electric motors operate as generators and convert the SUV’s kinetic energy into electrical energy. In this way, the system contributes up to 30 percent of the range. It operates intelligently with the electro-hydraulically integrated brake control system. Audi is the world’s first manufacturer to use this in an electrically driven series-production car. Depending on the driving situation, the brake control system decides whether the car uses the electric motor, wheel brake or a combination of both to decelerate – with this taking place individually at each axle. Part of the test drive route is on gravel tracks and desert sand. On this loose surface, the Audi e-tron demonstrates its excellent traction and dynamics. This is all made possible thanks to a new generation of quattro drive – the electric all-wheel drive. It ensures permanent and variable regulation of the ideal drive torque distribution between the two axles – within fractions of a second. At the same time, it is intelligently networked with numerous chassis systems, above all the four-stage electronic stabilization control, which can also be switched off completely, and the standard Audi drive select dynamic handling system. In addition to the drive characteristics, this also affects the factory-fitted air suspension. On off-road terrain, the Audi e-tron’s ground clearance is raised by 50 millimeters (2.0 in) at the touch of a button, while on highway stretches the vehicle body is lowered by up to 26 millimeters (1.0 in). In addition, the central chassis control unit individually controls the shock absorbers at each wheel at millisecond intervals – according to the road condition, driving style and the mode set in Audi drive select.     • Edmunds Vehicle Testing Manager Jonathan Elfalan heads to Thunderhill Raceway Park in Northern California to test-drive the new 2019 Hyundai Veloster N. The Veloster N is a high-performance model of the stylish yet quirky three-door hatchback from Hyundai. Hot hatches are known for their attractive blend of utility and performance, and the N competes against some really strong performers such as the Ford Focus RS, the Honda Civic Type-R and the Volkswagen Golf R. Is the Veloster N the best hot hatch for the money? Q: How much does the 2019 Hyundai Veloster N cost versus the rest of the field? A: Base price, including freight, is estimated to start at $28,000 for the standard 250-horsepower model. Add an extra $2,000 if you want the 275-hp Performance Pack model (you will want it), which also includes an electronic limited-slip differential, larger and stickier tires, larger brakes and variable exhaust actuators. The next closest hot hatch in price is the Civic Type-R with a starting MSRP of $34,700 without freight. The Focus RS and the Golf R both start north of $40K. Q: What kind of engine does the Veloster N have and how much power does it make? A: The Veloster N is powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four that makes either 250 hp in base trim or 275 hp when equipped with the Performance Pack. Peak torque remains the same in either configuration at 260 pound-feet. The power increase comes purely from software tuning, and there are no hardware changes. Oh, did we mention it takes 87 octane? No need to spring for premium fuel. Q: What kind of transmission options are there? A: The Veloster N is only offered with a six-speed manual transmission at the moment. Hyundai mentioned a performance dual-clutch is in development, but that's at least a couple of years away. The manual transmission comes equipped with an automatic rev-matching function, which makes downshifts buttery-smooth and eliminates the need to know how to heel-and-toe. It's easy to turn off this function if you're someone who likes to do your own rev-matching. But it does not get the Demon's massive single-scoop hood or available high-octane fuel tune that allows it to make 840 hp. The Redeye has a mere 797 horses. How fast does the 2019 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye do 0-60 mph? Dodge says the Redeye runs 0-60 mph in 3.4 seconds and clears the quarter-mile in 10.8 seconds at 131 mph. That's 4 mph faster than the Hellcat Widebody, which covers the same distance in 10.9 seconds. Is the 2019 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye available with a manual transmission? Sadly, no. While you can get a six-speed manual transmission in a Hellcat, the Redeye can only be had with an eight-speed automatic because Dodge doesn't have a manual rated for 707 pound-feet of torque.     • Edmunds Senior Writer Mark Takahashi snuck out of the office to drive the 2018 Aston Martin DB11 V8 on some epic roads. Needless to say, he loved every minute of it. This DB11 V8 represents a slightly more accessible version of the V12 model that debuted last year. And we mean slightly, since it's only $16,000 less than the V12 for a starting price right around $200,000. Under the hood is a Mercedes-Benz-sourced twin-turbo V8 that makes 503 horsepower. It also makes some pretty glorious noises. Unlike Aston Martins of the recent past, the DB11 benefits from the Mercedes partnership by borrowing much of their interior infotainment and switchgear. The interior is now appropriately outfitted and finished for a quarter-million-dollar car. It may not be the fastest, the most comfortable or the most convenient car in its class, but it's not that far off those marks, either. It is drop-dead gorgeous, however, and that may be reason enough to pull some money out of your offshore account. Mark's quite taken with the DB11, so if you see him, tell him Aston Martin expects the car back at some point and his assignments aren't going to write themselves.
