Silverstone Silver. The Chevrolet Motor Company was formed in 1911. The Corvette, Americas first sports car, was introduced in 1953, the third generation C3 Corvette was built from 1968-82, an all new body, based on the Mako Shark II concept car, it was longer, narrower and lower, a T top was now available. Big block cars got power bulge hood and integral air exhaust vents. 1968; only year for a push-button door release below the handle, 4 vertical slots front fenders, horizontal bars in grille, no Stingray badges. 1969; finger plate door release, Stingray script on front fenders (now one word) 350 replaced the 327, only year for 430hp ZL1 option (aluminium 427) 1970; now silver egg-crate grille with larger, rectangular signal lights, front fender louvers changed to a egg-crate style. 1968 engines; 300 or 350hp 327 V8 and 390hp 427 cu in big block (435hp Tri Power option). In 1968 Chevrolet were also selling full size cars; the base Biscayne, Bel Air, Impala and top Caprice, mid size Chevelle, the compacts; the Nova and the rear engine Corvair and the Camaro pony car.
