The third generation 'slant eyed' Continental was built from 1958-60. The 1958 Mark III Continental shared its unibody chassis and exterior with the Lincoln Premiere and Lincoln Capri. The front of the Continental was very different though, featuring slant eyed headlights and specific grille, also the Continental got a reverse-slant roofline, fitted with a retractable ‘breezeway’ rear window. Available in; 2-door hardtop and convertible, 4-door pillared sedan, and hardtop sedan (called Landau). The 1959 Mk IV introduced two formal sedans, the Continental Town Car and Limousine, they replaced the reverse-slant window with a forward-sloping rear window, the Limousine had a rear-seat partition. The slant eyed headlights blended into the grille. The 1960 Mk V got a larger grille and new ‘Dagmar bumpers’. Engine; 375hp 430 cu in V8
