    • <p>The VZ Commodore was built from August 2004- August 2006. Not only was this another slight facelift to the front and rear styling, the VZ got the new more powerful and more fuel efficent 3.6 DOHC Alloytec engine replacing the old 3.8 ECOTEC, also the V8 increased size to the L76 6.0 litre. Sedans available were; Executive; 3.6 6 cyl, anti lock brakes, steel wheels. Acclaim; auto, cruise control, traction control, air con, 15in alloys. Berlina; upmarket interior, climate control, 16in alloys Calais; upmarket interior, 3 position driver memory, 17in alloys. SV6; man, basic body kit, sports interior, FE2 sus, 17in alloys. SV8; man, basic body kit, sports interior, FE2 sus, LSD, 17in alloys SS; 5.0 V8, body kit, sports interior, FE2 sus, fog lights, 18in alloys. The commercials were the utility, one tonner and Crewman. The 2 door Monaro; CV6, CV8 and HSV GTO, GTS and Coupe 4. HSV also built performance sedans for Holden, available were; Clubsport, R8, GTS, Senator and Grange. Also Maloo ute. </p> Engines; 175kw 3.6 alloytec V6 or 250kw 5.7 V8 and from 2006, 260kw 6.0 (HSV 285kw)

The Berlina and Calais got a unique full width grille and angular headlights. Models available; Executive; 3.8 6 cyl, anti lock brakes, drivers airbag. Acclaim; 4 airbags, cruise control, traction control, air con. Berlina; upmarket interior and front fascia, 15in alloys Calais; upmarket interior and front fascia, 16in alloys, fog lights. S; 3.8 6 cyl, basic body kit, sports interior, sports suspension SS; 5.0 V8, body kit, sports interior, sports suspension, fog lights. The first of the third generation utes were now available, the VU, models; base, S, SS and the HSV improved Maloo and R8. The V2 2 door Monaro was introduced in 2001, available in CV6, CV8 and HSV improved GTO and GTS. HSV also built performance sedans for Holden, available were; XU6, Clubsport, R8, GTS, Senator and Grange. </p> Engines; 152kw 3.8 Ecotec V6, 171kw 3.8 Supercharged V6 or 225kw 5.7 V8

    • <p>The VP Commodore was built from Sept 1991-July 1993. The VN got a facelift in 1991; the VP, with translucent acrylic grille (colour coded on S and SS and chrome on Calais), also updated taillights and independent suspension introduced on SS and Calais. Again sedans, wagons and utilitys were available. The Statesman and Caprice sedans, built on the longer wheelbase wagon platform, were not given a new model designation for the VP range, rather they simply became the VQ Series II. Models available; Executive; 3.8 6 cyl, manual trans (Opt auto), 4 wheel discs Berlina; 3.8, auto trans, air con, power windows, velour seats Calais; more elaborate dash, grille and tail light treatment, velour interior, trip computer and cruise control S; 3.8 6 cyl, basic body kit, sports interior, FE2 suspension SS; 5.0 V8, full body kit, sports interior, FE2 suspension, alloys HSV built performance versions for Holden. Models carried over from the VN were; the Clubsport sedan and Maloo Utility, new were the more powerful GTS and Calais based Senator. </p> Engines; 125kw 3.8 V6 or 165kw 5.0 V8 (215kw HSV)

  • Venturi Fétish
    • <p>The Venturi Fétish is the world's first production two-seater electric sports car. It is produced by Venturi in Monaco. It will remain an absolute rarity, since the manufacturer is committed to deliver only 25 vehicles worldwide. </p><p>The car's acceleration is comparable to a normal internal combustion engined sports car, producing approximately 250 horsepower (180 kW), with a 0-100 km/h (0-60 mph) time of "under 5 seconds" according to the 2007 press kit. Its top speed is less comparable however, at 160 km/h (100 mph), which is respectable considering that it only has one gear. It runs at a constant translation of 9.58 : 1, with a torque of 220 Nm. </p><p>One other particular attraction of the car is that due to the electric traction motor, the full 220 Nm torque is available at all motor speeds including from a dead stop, as opposed to the progressive delivery of an internal combustion engined car, where full power is only available within certain RPM ranges. </p> The company specifies the car with a range of 250 km (combined use). The batteries are all lithium ion accumulators, offering a complete recharge in 1 hour (under 30 kW three-phase) and in 3 hours with a standard grid thanks to its onboard charger.

  • 1962 Ford Thunderbird Hardtop (44771247515)
    • <p>The third generation Thunderbirds were built from 1961-63, nicknamed the 'Bullet Bird', styling inspiration from rocket ships, with a pointed nose, recessed headlamps, twin round taillights shaped like a jet engine. Available as a Hardtop or Convertible, the Hardtop had softer roof lines than its 'Square Bird' predecessor. On the convertible models, the trunk lid was still rear-hinged, which raised and lowered through hydraulic cylinders. With the top down and trunk lid lowered, there was no sight of the soft-top. The dashboard curved at both ends, blending into the door panels. The traditional glove-box was gone and a center-console glove-box took its place. The 1962 model got a very mild facelift, a new grille with mesh look rather than the horizontal bars. Two new models were available, The Landau Hardtop, with a vinyl roof and simulated S-bars on the rear pillars and also the 'Sports Roadster' with fibreglass tonneau over the rear seats to give it that 2 seater look. Standard for 1962 was the swing away steering wheel, power steering, power brakes, back up lights and bucket seats </p> Only Engine; 275hp R Code, 300hp Z Code or 340hp M Code 390 cu in V8s

    • <p>The Porsche 935 was a race car developed and manufactured by German automaker Porsche. Introduced in 1976 as the factory racing version of the 911 (930) Turbo and prepared for FIA-Group 5 rules, it was an evolution of the Carrera RSR 2.1 turbo prototype, the second place overall finisher in the 1974 24 Hours of Le Mans. Beginning with the 1977 season, Porsche offered the 935 to customers entering the World Championship for Makes, in the IMSA GT Championship and in the German Deutsche Rennsport Meisterschaft (DRM). The 935 went on to win the 1979 24 Hours of Le Mans overall, and other major endurance races, including Sebring, Daytona, and the 1,000 km Nürburgring. Of the 370 races it was entered, it won 123.Usually, no other make could challenge the 935, as other manufacturers did not supply customer cars as Porsche did. Each race, at the time, typically featured at least five 935s. The 935 used a 3.3L Type 935 twin-turbocharged flat-six engine which used a mechanical fuel injection system. All of the high performance components combined enabled the engine to have a power output up to 630 kW (845 hp; 857 PS), the engine often produced turbo lag at low RPM due to the large turbochargers. The dominance of the 935 ended with changes in the FIA rules which came into effect in 1982, replacing the six numbered groups with only three groups, namely A, B and C.     • <p>The Ford GT40 was a high performance sports car, designed to put an end to Ferraris dominance in long-distance sports car races. The car was named the GT (for Grand Touring) with the 40 representing its overall height of 40 inches. First introduced in 1964, by 1966 the job was done; won the 24 Hours of Le Mans four consecutive times, from 1966 to 1969, taking the title from Ferrari. 1966 winners; Bruce McLaren and Chris Amon in a Mk II. (Kiwis) 1967 winners; Dan Gurney and A.J.Foyt in a Mk IV. 1968 winners; Rodriguez and Bianchi in a Mk I 1969 winners; Jackie Icyx and Jackie Oliver in a Mk I </p> <pre>The Mk Is were powered by 289 cu.in engines as used in the Ford Mustang, later cars got the 427 from the Galaxie. </pre> These later cars, built by GT Developments in the UK, were a copy of the Mk I GT40, running the 302 cu in V8, they were built from 1984-91. This particular car was one of their demonstrators.

    • <p>The Ford GT is an American mid-engine two-seater sports car . The GT recalls Ford's historically significant GT40, consecutive four-time winner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans (1966-1969), including a 1-2-3 finish in 1966. The first generation was built from 2004-06 powered by Ford's 5400cc Modular Supercharged V8 making 550hp, 4038 were made. This, the second generation was introduced in 2017 powered by 3500cc twin supercharged Eco-boost V6 making 647hp. Underpinning the GT is a carbon fiber monocoque bolted to aluminum front and rear subframes covered in carbon fiber body panels. This GT won its class at Le Mans is powered by a twin-turbo 3.5-litre EcoBoost V6 engine, and is built around a chassis shared with the road car. That means it gets the same teardrop cabin, intricate air intakes and snub nose – but the active aerodynamics are gone, replaced with a proper racing body kit and rear wing. </p> Ford Performance brought the car out to be displayed at the Mt Panorama Bathurst 1000 and the Melbourne Motorclassica

    • <p>The Ford display at the Barrett-Jackson Auction. </p> <p>Ford's Special Vehicle Team built a number of high-performance modified versions of Ford's volume models over the years. </p> <p>The 1993 Cobra is one of the best known. It closed out the production of this particular generation of the Mustang (1979-1993) with a bang. Its relatively affordable high performance was well noted by enthusiasts and collectors. </p> <p>This particular Cobra is a race-ready Cobra R, with additional performance upgrades. Its engine was good for 235 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque. It was available only with red exterior and gray interior. Only 107 were built, and all were sold out before they were delivered to dealerships. </p> At the test drive area, I could drive a brand-new 2012 Mustang GT with 5.0L engine, and/or ride shotgun with a professional driver in a Boss 302 Mustang. I did drive the GT, and appreciated both its power and its cornering on the test track.

    • <p>The Chevrolet Motor Company was formed in 1911. The Chevy II was Chevrolets compact car, the first generation, built from 1962-65, this the second from 1966-67, the second generation got sharper edges, a new grille and a semi fastback roofline. In 1968, the Chevy II name plate was replaced by the 'Nova' Base model in 1966 was the Chevy II 100, in 2 and 4 door Sedan and wagon Next was the Nova 400, in 2 door Hardtop, 4 door Sedan and Wagon Top was the Nova Super Sport. The SS was visually distinguished by wide rocker panels and a bright aluminium deck lid cove. It had SS emblems on the grille and in the ribbed rear panel, bucket seats and floor shifter, only in 2 door Hardtop. Engines; 120hp 194 and 140hp 230 6 cyl, 195hp 283 V8 and 275 or 350hp 327 V8 </p> Also available in 1967 was the full size Biscayne, Bel Air and Impala, the mid size Chevelle, C2 Corvette Sting Ray Sports car and the rear engine Corvair.

    • <p>Rare 1974 Dodge Charger Rallye Began Life Working for Universal Studios </p><p>As the classic 1950 film noir Sunset Boulevard showed, Hollywood has been chewing up and spitting out talent since the very first time a director yelled, "Action!" For every shooting star, countless more aspiring actors never get a call-back for even the smallest of roles. Somewhere in between, however, are the actors who don't necessarily make it to the red carpet, but work consistently in the background and supporting roles. They aren't the juiciest, most glamorous jobs, but it is solid work in a tough industry. </p><p>That's kind of where Andrew Gurka's 1974 Charger Rallye comes in. It started life in Hollywood but was never elevated to stardom like a certain white 1970 Challenger or black 1968 Charger. Those iconic starring roles were cultural phenomena, but this Yellow Blaze Charger simply became one of those workaday support players on the Universal Studios lot. </p><p>Then again, the leading roles for big-screen Mopars don't always end up so well, if you recall the fiery ends of the Vanishing Point Challenger and the Bullitt Charger. So maybe there's something to be said for simply a "car parked on the curb" credit. For one thing, this Charger is still around to share its tale. </p><p>Gurka first ran across the car about eight years ago. A longtime fan of the 1971-1974 Chargers, he'd owned three 1972 Rallye models in the past. He wanted a 1973 or 1974 model for his next one, mostly because of model-year improvements that included electronic ignition and retractable seatbelt harnesses. Not knowing the car's Hollywood history, he was drawn to it initially because of the rare factory sunroof. </p><p>"The seller was the son of the original owner," says Gurka. "Unfortunately, we weren't able to settle on a price, and he was traveling overseas for work. The deal never materialized, and the car ended up with a new owner in New York." </p><p>A few years later, the owner moved to the outskirts of Las Vegas, taking the Charger with him. The nonfunctional factory air conditioning, along with some other needed repairs, prompted him to sell the car in the summer of 2016. </p><p>"When it went up for sale again, I immediately recognized the car and made sure it wouldn't get out of my sight again," says Gurka. "I purchased it without hesitation and brought it back to my home in Michigan." </p><p>Fortunately, a stack of original paperwork came with the car, outlining its provenance as a pampered Hollywood car, including the original order sheet, original registration tag, the canceled checks for the deposit, and more. The car itself sported three broadcast sheets in excellent condition and a pair of stuffed fender tags. The most telling was the Y28 code on one of the broadcast sheets, which indicated it was a public relations car built for promotion. </p><p>Gurka says, "The car was originally delivered to Studio Dodge in North Hollywood in late 1973, and immediately loaned to Universal Studios. It was apparently there for about six months before coming back to the dealership." </p><p>After that, a woman traded in 1972 Monte Carlo on it to become the first legal owner. The original sales sheet shows a comparatively hefty price of $5,450 and an even heftier finance rate of 14.69 percent. No kidding, but keep in mind that inflation in the U.S. was between 10 and 12 percent in 1974. Different times. </p><p>When Gurka acquired the Charger in 2016, it was in generally original condition and partially restored, with 52,000 miles and the original 440 engine rebuilt by Koffel's Place in Ohio. That was another attractive element of the car because Dodge produced only 208 Charger hardtops with the 440 for 1974, and as Gurka would find out later from Galen Govier's research service, only four of them were equipped with the manual-opening sunroof—and his is the only known survivor. </p><p>Though the engine was the Charger's original, several aftermarket elements were on it, such the intake manifold, carb, and valve covers. There was also a number of surprisingly hinky repairs and other items that required attention on the car, including the fuel line touching an exhaust header, a nail used as a fix for the automatic shifter linkage, and even motorcycle spark plugs in place of the correct ones. </p><p>"It needed a lot of attention to not only make it a correct-appearing car but to get it driving the way it should," says Gurka. "There were a hundred little details, from that nail in the shifter to getting the correct battery cables." </p><p>All of that nitpicky yet time-consuming work fell to Wrenchers in Novi, Michigan, where we discovered the car. Shop owner Bill Deringer and his crew had spent months finding and fixing all of the car's bugs, including getting the original air conditioning system blowing cold. </p><p>And speaking of the body-side stripes, they do more than any other design cue to accentuate the car's gorgeous, Coke-bottle profile. The 1968-1970 Charger design will always be regarded as one of the most beautiful of its era, but time has been good to the 1971-1974 Charger models, too. Their long, sinewy lines drape over the wheels with muscular sex appeal. </p><p>"It's one of those cars that doesn't need any embellishment from aftermarket wheels or other add-ons," says Gurka. "It has a strong presence and great stance just the way it rolled out of the factory on the Road Wheels." </p><p>The car looks pretty good from the driver's seat, too, with the long hood stretching to the horizon, the dome an ever-present reminder of the 440 ci of RB-engine torque. Factory performance had all but evaporated by 1974, and while the Charger's 275 hp was by no means a rival to its high-compression predecessors, it nonetheless cranked out some strong pound-feet (around 375) while breathing through a Carter Thermoquad four-barrel carburetor. </p><p>If a kitchen sink were an option in 1974, this car would have had it. Because it was a promotional car, Dodge bolted on every other item lying around the St. Louis assembly plant. Along with the air conditioning and rare sunroof, the car also has power steering, cruise control, power windows, an AM/FM radio, a rear speaker, and a two-speed rear-window defroster. For those unaccustomed to Mopar's solution prior to the conventional electric-grid defroster, the automaker used a defroster system similar to the blower-fan setup for the windshield. The two-speed controller is located as an add-on below the dashboard. Gurka says, "It's a great-driving car now that all the little things have been sorted out. And even with the low-compression engine, the 440 has a lot of grunts, which is a lot of fun." </p><p>So, perhaps this Charger didn't make a big splash (or crash) on the big screen, but the next time Columbo, Emergency! or Banacek comes on a retro channel on your cable system, take a look in the background. My first "Daytona" Competizione, together with an F40 LM and a rather simple C 63 AMG 507. </p> <p>Additional info after being explored: Thanks all for comments and faves. I also liked the shot, but especially the cars in it where rather awesome. This 365 Competizione is at the moment about 1.5 million euros. The F40 LM is also for sale, but I don't know at what price :) Than there is the C 63 AMG 507, which seemed to be the first one I ever saw, and also this is the only picture I've got of this car, because it really wasn't that interesting together with these cars :) </p> The funny thing is that I later on the day saw a C 63 AMG 507 coupé driving through the city of Siegen in Germany. Than he parked somewhere and I still decided to take not a single picture. Stupid me perhaps, but after all the other cars I saw that day...
