1960 Ford Thunderbird Convertible- The second generation Thunderbirds, the ‘Square Birds’ were built from 1958-60, now a larger and heavier car. The first generation was a two seater, the new ‘T bird’ accommodated four. They had a new angular profile with quad headlights, it was very low and now available as a fixed-roof pillarless hardtop or a convertible. To accommodate the higher transmission tunnel that was required in such a low car, Ford used it as a styling feature, building in a full-length center console featuring ashtrays, switches etc. For 1960, the grille was revised again, now with an egg crate background with solid cross bars in front, behind the tail lights got an egg crate look too, just 'Thunderbird' on the door now, but sergeant stripes at the rear of the rear quarter, a sunroof was now an option. Engines; 235hp 352 cu in FE V8 (G Code), 300hp 352 cu in FE V8 (Y Code) and 350hp 430 cu in MEL V8 (J Code)

2009 Renault Clio Sport F1 Team R27- The Renault Clio III is a rare beast in Australia, because they were only sold in RenaultSport guise. No regular or 'bread and butter' Clio III models were sold here, due to being too expensive to import, whereas the RenaultSport Clio's could be sold here at a profitable margin. It also helped Renault in Australia keep the Clio name alive, until the all new Clio IV arrived with regular and sport models now being offered here. I think I'd rather like this edition to my garage!

20120831-OC-LSC-0033- The Number 93, SRT Viper GTS-R of the SRT Motorsport Team uses E85 fuel for the American Le Mans Series (ALMS) motorsport series at the Baltimore Grand Prix, on the streets of downtown Baltimore, MD, on Friday, August 31, 2012, Labor Day Weekend. ALMS says they are “the Global Leader in Green Racing by being the only racing series recognized to comply with the Green Racing protocols developed by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Society of American Engineers International (SAE).” Instead of high-octane gasoline all the cars in the series use one of 5 different forms of energy (system). Clean diesel, E85, E10, isobutanol or hybrid energy technology. The specific hybrid system, used by the Porsche GT3 cars, are a (battery-less) flywheel-based Kinetic Energy Recovery Systems. These organizations are accelerating technology development at speeds up to 200 mph, in 650-700 horsepower race cars that are based on two groups of cars; the purpose built prototype race cars and the GT (Grand Touring) cars based on production sports cars that you can see in showrooms. From these groups, there are five classes of cars, all of which race at the same time during the race events. The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) focuses on renewable fuel sources that are profitable and sustainable. 2011 accomplishments include research and planning for renewable energy and investments in renewable energy production. - Completed a Biofuels Roadmap proposing a plan of action to meet congressionally mandated RFS2 goals for national biofuels production. -Coordinated five regional research centers to work on the science necessary to ensure profitable biofuels can be produced from a diverse range of feed stocks across the nation, not just in the Midwest where the industry is already thriving. -Over three years, USDA invested about $320 million to accelerate research on renewable energy ranging from genomic research on bioenergy feedstock crops, to development of biofuel conversion processes and costs/benefit estimates of renewable energy production. - More than 130 biodiesel and ethanol projects funded by USDA are currently producing almost 3.7 billion gallons of biodiesel and ethanol annually, enough fuel – in equivalence to gasoline – to keep five million vehicles on the road every year. -We are supporting efforts to build five biorefineries to produce advanced biofuels in states from Florida and Michigan to New Mexico, with investments worth about $310 million. We are supporting facility upgrades and feasibility studies for advanced biofuels projects in every region of the country. USDA photo by Lance Cheung.

Ferrari FXX EVO- The FXX is based on the supercar Enzo from which it retains some technology. The developments on this prototype were focused on increasing the power output of the engine, reducing the gearbox shifting time and increasing the efficiency of the braking system where new pads were matched with the carbon fiber ceramic composite discs found on the Enzo. During the course of the years, Ferrari introduced the Evoluzione package mainly focused on reducing drag and increasing the overall aerodynamic coefficient of the car. Ferrari built 30 units of which 29 were sold to clients and 1 was allocated to Michael Schumacher when he retired from racing in 2006.
