    • Finally, I was able to see and film the new 2020 Cupra Leon Competición TCR in action, not one but five examples. We are on the Imola circuit during the final race of the TCR championship organized by ACI Racing Weekend. Four models lined-up by Team Girasole, one of which driven by the strong Spanish pilot Mikel Azcona, ruler over the weekend at the Santerno racetrack and winner of 2018 TCR Europe. The fifth car belongs to the Elite Motorsport Team. The new weapon of the Spanish manufacturer, a benchmark in the sector, is powered by the 2.0-Liter TSI engine that develops 340hp at 6,000 rpm with a maximum torque of 410Nm at 2,500 rpm. The gearbox is a sequential 6-speed DSG, front-wheel drive and multi-plate limited-slip differential. Other technical features are electric steering, McPherson suspension at the front and Multi-link at the rear, 378mm self-ventilated brakes with 6-piston callipers in front and 272mm discs with 2-piston callipers at the rear. Champions from Finland are Juha Kankkunen, Tommi Mäkinen, Ari Vatanen, Marcus Grönholm and Hannu Mikkola. French rally drivers have dominated 8 times with Sébastien Ogier, and 9 times with Sébastien Loeb. Famous motorsport drivers have attempted WRC like Robert Kubica and Kimi Räikkönen from F1 and Ken Block from Rallycross. Car companies compete for the prestigious FIA World Rally Championship for Manufacturers. The 1980's featured the iconic Group B rally cars like the Lancia 037 and Delta S4, Peugeot 205 T16, MG Metro 6R4, Ford RS200 and Audi Quattro. Japan dominated the 1990s with the Mitsubishi Lancer, Subaru Impreza, and Toyota Celica and Toyota Corolla. Citroen and Volkswagen became champions in the 2000s along with M-Sport team using the Ford Focus and Ford Fiesta. Toyota returned to the WRC in 2017 with the Toyota Yaris WRC, winning in 2018 and 2021. Hyundai won in 2019 and 2020 with the Hyundai i20 Coupe WRC.     • Filmed at Thunderhill West as part of the Road & Track Performance car of the year group test. The Lotus Evora GT may be a minor upgrade from last year's Evora 410, but honestly, it still deserves to be counted among the best driving cars money can buy at any price. For one, it's the only V6 engine in production right now that sounds objectively good; the fact that it's a lightly modified Camry motor makes that even better. It has no adjustments, because it needs no adjustments. It is good at absolutely everything, and its limits are easily approachable, even though it is very fast. Great car. Lotus provided the vehicle and insurance for this video.

    • Ferrari’s track-only XX cars are rare, thought to number around 116 in total, spanning Enzo-based FXX, 599XX, and LaFerrari-underpinned FXX-K, plus their uprated Evo variants. But now the XX tag has been applied to Ferrari road cars. Hardcore ones of course, but while the first – the SF90 XX Stradale – is reassuringly expensive and the fastest-ever road car around Ferrari’s Fiorano test circuit, the company will build 799 of them. And, when we drove it in late 2023, it wasn’t quite all we thought a road-going XX should be. You could argue that’s okay. The XX sub-brand has been established – and can now be exploited – while Ferrari’s best clients switch their focus to the £5m 499P Modificata, a derestricted Le Mans car. And yet, there’s now a convertible XX, the new SF90 XX Spider. A sacrilegious step too far, too soon?     • Ferrari has finally presented the new Daytona SP3, part of the series of exclusive Icona models and will be marketed towards the end of 2022. We are at the Mugello circuit during the final day, Sunday, where the 2021 Ferrari Finali Mondiali took place. In the video, you can see the car at its first public appearance, which completed a couple of laps on the track. The design is a tribute to the legendary Ferrari 330 P3, 330 P3/4 and 412 P, which extraordinarily were there too and honoured the public all together with a superb parade. The new SP3 will be produced in 599 units at the cost of 2 million euros and is powered by the 6.5-litre naturally aspirated V12 engine capable of developing 840hp at 9,500 rpm. With a weight of 1485 kg, the performances are very high; from 0 to 100 Km/h in 2.85 seconds, from 0 to 200 Km/h in 7.4 seconds and a maximum speed of 340 Km/h. This one’s a Spider and does the 0-62 sprint in a mind blowing 2.85 seconds, has a top speed of 211 mph and a massive power to weight ratio of 520 horsepower per ton.   • Loafers & white socks: Driving the Honda NSX-R | Henry Catchpole - The Driver's Seat
    • Famously, Ayrton Senna drove a Honda NSX-R round Suzuka in white socks and loafers, so in this latest TDS episode, Henry Catchpole does his best to pay tribute to that iconic footage. He also investigates how a car with only 276HP can stand toe-to-toe with the very best supercars ever made. And it really can. This particular NSX-R is one of the far rarer second generation from 2002. It has just 16,000km on the clock and is coming up for auction with Broad Arrow at the Villa d’Este concours at the end of May. Resplendent in Championship white with the red Recaro carbon bucket seats and simple three-spoke Momo steering wheel inside, it is in pretty much perfect spec. The legendary NSX ergonomics seem to be even better in the R and as soon as you get in you feel right at home. It is an incredibly tactile car to drive, with a fabulously tight, precise gear shift and talkative unassisted steering that are both full of feel from the moment you set off. Also playing an integral part in the experience is the naturally aspirated, 90-degree V6, C32B engine. It might only have 276bhp and 224lb ft of torque but it somehow feels like enough in a car that only weighs 2800lb (1270kg). When let loose around the cambered curves of Sweden’s Gelleråsen arena it is something close to driving Nirvana, with incredible poise and no lack of performance. The circuit, also known as Karlskoga Motorstadion, is Sweden’s oldest permanent motorsport track and as Henry explains, it has witnessed some interesting races in its history.
